RECIPE: Cheese & Bacon Breakfast Pizza

CHEESE + BACON BREAKFAST PIZZA 🍳 using farm fresh smoked bacon! 🥓@yoderfamilyfarmIn the heart of pig country, the Yoder family focuses on quality genetics on their Duroc pig farm— the Duroc breed makes for higher marbling content, more tenderness and more flavor thanthe pork found in store

🐖I found this lovely family farm to get pork for my freezer on @range_market ! Instead of strollingthe farmers market I can scroll their website & meet farmers all over the country that are readyto share their production practices & ship out my order from their farm driveway 📦

ingredients//
1 sheet of puff pastry dough
1/2 lb bacon from @yoderfamilyfarm
3 tbsp butter 🐄
3 tbsp all purpose flour
1 1/3 cup whole milk 🐄
1 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese + 1/2 cup for topping🐄
S&P
5 eggs
1/4 cup whole milk 🐄

directions//
1. Preheat oven to 400 F. Lay puff pastry dough in a cast iron skillet to cover the full pan, cutting the extra dough off the edges and adding it to empty places. Poke dough with fork and bake for 10-12 mins until golden brown. Use a spoon to flatten bottom and sides of crust.

2. Cook bacon until crispy — either in a greased pan over medium high heat or bake at 400 Ffor 10-13 mins. Set aside to cool on a paper towel lined plate and rough chop once cooled.

3. Prepare cheese sauce — in a small sauce pan, melt butter until frothy and whisk in flour. Over medium heat, slowly whisk the cup of heavy cream a little at a time so that it thickens.  Once all added and sauce has thickened, gradually add shredded cheese while continuouslystirring, season with salt and pepper and keep warm.

4. Cook your eggs — whisk eggs and milk in a large bowl and cook over medium heat in agreased skillet. Once eggs are 3/4 way cooked through, turn off heat and set lid over pan foreggs to finish cooking.

5. Assemble & bake — pour cheese sauce onto crust, then add eggs, remaining 1/2 cup cheeseand finally top with the chopped bacon. Bake for 15 mins and let sit for at least 15 minutes before slicing & serving.

We have been blessed with an amazing family and we are excited to share this part of our lives with you. As long as we can remember, raising pigs has been a part of our lives and played a significant role in how we grew up. We are thankful that God has blessed us with the opportunity to raise our family the same way; raising pigs on the family farm.
